Grenada joins CTO at Caribbean Week in New York

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, June 02, 2015–GIS: A team from Grenada joins the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) at Caribbean Week in New York from June 1 to  June 5, 2015. The week provides opportunities to market and promote Grenada as the premier geo-tourism destination of choice to American travel agents and journalists. Officials from Government agencies and tourism boards will confer on aspects of the Caribbean’s tourism sector, such as romance, culinary arts, and community tourism.

The delegation, led by Hon. Yolande Bain-Horsford, Minister of Tourism & Civil Aviation includes GTA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Rudy Grant and US-based Director of Sales, Mrs. Christine Noel-Horsford

“We are very focused on the USA as a visitor source market, and it seems that potential visitors are also quite focused on Grenada. Within a few days, Grenada will receive two new nonstop flight services, one from New York via JetBlue Airways and the other from Atlanta via Delta Airlines. It is therefore imperative that the GTA continues its traditional and digital marketing initiatives in the US,” says Mr. Rudy Grant.

The United States of America is the largest source market for visitor arrivals to Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique, recording more than fifty thousand (50,000) visitors in 2014. The state of New York supplies the most visitors and also has a large Caribbean Diaspora.

Interest in travel to Grenada has increased as seen in recent data from popular online platforms like Kayak and Trip Advisor. The Caribbean expects more attention, especially after the US President Barack Obama declared June 2015 the National Caribbean-American Heritage Month.
