New Keith Mitchell Government reports savings in phone bills, international travel and water

ST. GEORGE'S, GRENADA, Monday. November 04, 2013 - GIS: The new Keith Mitchell administration is reporting steady progress in its effort to reduce non personnel expenditure by at least 20 percent.

The Government is reporting that its telephone bill and international travel bill has each been reduced by nearly 50 percent.

In a national address recently, Prime Minister Mitchell reported that the water bill at the ministerial complex has also been significantly reduced.

“Already, we have reduced Government’s mobile phone bill by 40% and international travel by almost 40%,” Prime Minister Mitchell told the nation.

“Our Waste Management Team has already reduced—significantly so—by thousands of dollars, the water bill for the Ministerial Complex. These efforts will be intensified in other areas”.

The Waste Management team was appointed when the Mitchell administration returned to office eight months ago.

The body is charged with responsibility for saving on expenditure ahead of new measures being introduced, in association with the IMF and friendly countries, aimed at turning around the economy.

“Government is committed to reducing all non-personnel expenditure by at least 20%” Dr. Mitchell stressed in his national address.
