Local Economy to Grow By Five Percent

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, February 15, 2016- GIS: The local economy is expected to grow by at least 5% in 2016, on the back of a 3.5% expansion in 2014, progress which delights the government.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell is heartened by the encouraging news, which he credits to the strong unity existing among key stakeholders.

He says that the Business Community, Trade Unions, the Churches and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) have been working to build the economy.

“We are growing as a country, the fastest growing economy in the Caribbean at this time and in a period of a structural adjustment program; we are limited to an extent with some of the initiatives that we can take. So that’s a clear indication and I put this to one of the most important factor which is our ability as a country to get all our major players at the table to talk about what is best for Grenada,” Dr. Mitchell said.
