ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, AUGUST 15, 2016 – GIS: Honourable Roland Bhola and the team at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Religious Affairs extend heartiest congratulations to Kirani James and Bralon Taplin on their outstanding performance in the Men’s 400 meters at the Rio Olympics.
Grenada is a blessed and truly proud Nation to have had two finalists in this event.
The Ministry especially congratulates Kirani on his Silver Medal run. We thank him for continuing to hold our flag high on the world stage with his achievements. As a proud people, we also must applaud his continued display of sportsmanship of the highest level as was evidenced by his immediate open and sincere congratulations to his South African counterpart, who won the Gold Medal. Kirani exemplifies the true spirit of Grenada and for this we are ever grateful as a People.
We acknowledge Bralon for opting to embrace Grenada as Home and for representing us so well. His Semi Final performance was one of strength, determination and will. He has proved that he has great potential and we look forward to greater performances in the future.
We are grateful to both athletes for representing Grenada with honour and true strength of character. As Sportsmen you pave the path for other young shining stars to follow. The Ministry further congratulates all other athletes who have so far represented Grenada at the 2016 Olympic Games, and we look forward to the upcoming performances of those yet to compete. We extend very best wishes to them.
