NLA MAKES LARGEST CONTRIBUTION TO CARIFTA GAMES

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, March 10th, 2016- GISA $600,000 package is so far the largest contribution made towards the 2016 FLOW Carifta games scheduled for March 26-28.

This donation was made by the National Lottery Authority and the hand-over occurred during a ceremony at the Ministry of Works Conference Room on Monday, March 7th.

A number of other businesses have also contributed to the staging of the games, expected to cost approximately 3 million EC dollars.

“Our committees have all been functioning well, accommodation will sometimes play a major role in any games,” said Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee Veda Bruno-Victor.

“We have been working very hard to make sure that we put all our instruments in place for the hosting of the games”.

Sports Coordinator Conrad Francis said officials are being trained to perform their duties at the highest standard.

“As we speak our officials have been undergoing training for the last three weeks, intensive training under the watchful eye of Mr. Gabriel Patrick who would be our games manager, and these training is ongoing”.

Over 800 athletes and officials from across the region have already registered for what officials say would be the largest Carifta event ever to be hosted in the region.
