Grenada PM Congratulates PM Cameron of UK

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, FRIDAY, MAY 8, 2015 - GIS:  Grenada’s Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell has sent a congratulatory message to David Cameron who was reelected as Britain’s Prime Minister following General Elections on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Mitchell said Mr. Cameron’s margin of victory reflects support of his leadership record and his ability to lead the United Kingdom.

“-- Mr. Prime Minister, I take this opportunity to congratulate you on having secured a renewed mandate to govern on behalf of the people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,” Dr. Mitchell said.

“Indeed, your party’s resounding victory at the polls signals both an endorsement of your leadership record and optimism over your ability to take your great nation forward to face the challenges of our time”.

Cameron has promised to lead a government for "one nation" and make "Great Britain greater" as he returned to Downing Street as prime minister.

The Conservatives have 331 seats - five more than needed for a Commons majority - their first such victory since 1992.

“Since gaining independence in 1974, Grenada has repeatedly looked to the United Kingdom for its friendship and support, premised on the latter’s unrivalled position to understand many of the deeply rooted development challenges that face former colonies like Grenada,” the Grenadian Prime Minister pointed out.

“In this regard, Mr. Prime Minister, I look forward to continued excellent relations between our two countries and encourage you to embrace your nation’s historically good relationship with former colonies while you look after your country’s affairs”.
