Midwestern State University Caribbean Program celebrates 20 years

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, February 12, 2014 – GIS: Midwestern State University’s Caribbean Students Organization celebrated its 20th anniversary this month recognizing the almost 1200 students who have enrolled at the university since the program began.

In recognition of the anniversary MWSU officials will be in St George’s for an open seminar for prospective undergraduate and post graduate students on Monday 17 February at 4:30 pm. The meeting will take place at the GBSS Auditorium.

All undergraduates receive a scholarship and competitive waiver that allows them to pay less than the state resident rate in tuition. Students earn additional scholarships through academic excellence and compete for the Good Neighbor Scholarship which covers tuition for the final year.

Post grads can earn scholarships and assistantships up to the full cost of their education based on individual academic records.

Four new students from Grenada arrived at the university this semester and twelve additional ones will be accepted in August subject to Grenada government decision.

Midwestern State University was the first institution to recognize the credits from all the local OECS colleges and paved the way for other institutions to do the same. The Caribbean Recruitment Program is a collaborative effort sanctioned by the Government of Grenada.

The media is invited to cover this event.
