Prime Minister’s Visit to Toronto on the 43rd Anniversary of Independence

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, February 15, 2017 – GIS: Prime Minister Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell was the Guest of Honour at the Toronto Grenada Independence Gala on Saturday, February 11th.

 

The Prime Minister expressed his pleasure at visiting Toronto for the Independence Celebration and stated how overwhelmed he was by the large crowd in attendance; commenting that this was the largest crowd he had ever seen since attending these activities.

 

Dr. Mitchell updated the Toronto Diaspora community on the ongoing national agenda, including current engagement of the Trade Unions, and calls for their continued cooperation in Nation Building and in uniting the Country.

Several upcoming projects were also discussed, as well as the upcoming Grenada Invitational Track meet to be held on April 8. He issued a call for brothers and sisters abroad to join with those at home in supporting the activity. The Prime Minister thanked those in the Diaspora for their continued support in national development.

 

On the following day (Sunday, February 12), the Prime Minister held an interview with a local Radio Station, hosted by Mr. Fitzroy Gordon, on the popular programme GrapeVine, where he encouraged persons to work together in unity towards Nation Building. He also spoke on Constitution Reform and the state of West Indies Cricket.
