HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIRANI JAMES

ST. GEORGE'S GRENADA, September 1, 2015 – GIS:  The Minister of Youth Sport and Religious Affairs, Honorable Emmalin Pierre takes this opportunity on behalf of the Government of Grenada, to wish a Happy Birthday to Grenada’s own Kirani James.

 

 Minister Pierre described James continuous patriotism as he goes forth to represent the people of Grenada, Carriacou, Petite Martinique and the Caribbean as exemplary. The Sports Minister called on all Grenadians to take example from the dedication to achievement by James and his humility in both defeat and victory.

 “His efforts on and off the track have been unifying for all Grenadians and is a perfect example of what Sports can do for personal, community and national development” said Minister Pierre.

 400m World Youth Championships       -    2007 (Silver Medal)

400m World Junior Championships         -    2008 (Silver Medal)

400m Commonwealth Youth Games        - 2008 (Gold Medal)

400m World Junior Champion                -   2010 (Gold Medal)

400m  World  Indoor Champion             -   2011 (Gold Medal/Youngest champion ever)

400m Olympic Champion                      - 2012 (Gold Medal/First Grenadian Olympic Medal in history)

400m Commonwealth Games Champion - 2013 (First Grenadian Commonwealth Games Gold Medal)

400m World Championships                  - 2015 (Bronze Medal)

Grenada 400m National Record Holder  - 43.74s

 

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Religious Affairs remains committed to assisting and recognizing all of Grenada’s sportsmen and women, particularly those who continue achieving at the level of Kirani James and Kurt Felix, who over the weekend placed 8th in the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, setting a national record in the Decathlon of 8302 while posting several personal best performances.
