Grenada’s first female Governor-General receives her knighthood

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, July 23, 2014 – GIS: Grenada’s first female Governor-General, Dame Cecile La Grenade, has been knighted during a private ceremony at Buckingham Palace in England.

The official ceremony occurred during her first official visit to the United Kingdom, two days after a private audience with Her Majesty The Queen on July 9th.

The Knighthood represents another title to her Excellency Dame Cécile La Grenade, adding to credits that already include GCMG, OBE, and PhD.

After leaving the United Kingdom, the Governor General traveled to the United States on private business, returning to Grenada on July 22nd.

Dame La Grenade was accompanied by her Aide-de-Camp, ASP Randy Connaught.

The Governor General was sworn into office in May of last year with Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell saying that her inauguration serves as a “beacon of hope that can inspire a whole nation.”
