Both Foreign Affairs Minister Elvin Nimrod and Chinese Ambassador in Grenada H.E. Mme. Ou Boqian have stressed that relations between the two countries are at its strongest.

“Since resumption of diplomatic relations 11 years ago, China and Grenada have witnessed together the comprehensive development of our bilateral relations and fruitful cooperation in all fields,” Ambassador Ou said in remarks at a reception attended also by Governor General Dame Cecile La Grenade and Acting Prime Minister Gregory Bowen.

Minister Nimrod said that Grenada is committed to the One China policy, and expressed confidence that the relations will grow even stronger.

“Unprecedented practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges invigorate the friendly relation,” the Ambassador said.

China which had built over 350 houses here, has just signed a new agreement to the government of Grenada to build an additional 650 units.

One of the biggest capital projects that has been undertaken here, has been the rebuilding of the stadium through China’s assistance.

“The Grenada National Athletic Stadium, now Kirani James Stadium, funded by the Chinese Government was handed over to Grenada early this year.  The Class One certificate granted by the International Association of Athletics Federations makes both of us proud,” Madam Ou said.

This year alone a record of 270 Grenadians are benefitting from scholarships and educational opportunities.
