Public and Private Sector Employees benefit from Bi-lateral Training offered by the People’s Republic of China

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, July 4, 2016 –GIS:  On Wednesday, June 29, 2016, the Human Resource Development Unit (HRDU) of the Department of Public Administration (DPA), Prime Minister’s Ministry, held an Orientation session, the 3rd such session held for successful candidates to the China Bi-lateral Short-Term programme

In attendance was the Ambassador to the PRC in Grenada, Her Excellency Madam Ou Boquian.

Two (2) were previously held for participants who attended the recently concluded seminars for:

1)      Journalists and Editors of Grenada: May 11 – 31, 2016

2)      Stadium Maintenance Technology: May 28 – June 16, 2016

Already for 2016, Sixty (60) Grenadians from the Private & Public Sectors have benefitted from these bi-lateral training opportunities geared at building capacity among Public Officers and Private Sector employees; improving personal growth & equipping them with the necessary skills for better job performance and service to their customers/ clients.

While the Multi-lateral programme has been ongoing since its commencement in 2006, the Bi-lateral Programmes were newly introduced to Grenada in 2015 with the offering of three (3) Bi-lateral programmes that increased to four (4) in 2016.  Grenada is the 1st Caribbean Country to have negotiated these Bi-lateral courses which has seen to date 130 persons benefiting from this Bi-lateral arrangement.

There remains the 4th Bi-lateral training course on Biotechnology Application in Food Industries for Grenada, scheduled from September 2 to 29, 2016 in Beijing, China.

An invitation is hereby extended to interested persons to apply through the DPA for this course by July 15, 2016.  Contact No. 440-3767.

The Government of Grenada continues to work closely with the Chinese Officials in Grenada, and this has seen a steady increase in the number of Grenadians benefiting from participation in both the bi & Multi-lateral training courses.  Altogether, for the first half of the year 2016, over 100 persons have already benefited; and from the China Short-Term programmes’ inception, to date, well over 500 persons have experienced the Chinese culture and benefited from China’s expertise.
