WHAT’S NEXT AFTER S.A.P.

ST. GEORGE’S GRENADA, SEPTEMBER 12TH, 2016- GIS: Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Dr. Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell says there are plans to consult with Trade Unions, NGO’s and others to determine the way forward as Grenada nears the end of the three year Structural Adjustment Programme.

A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Ms. Nicole La Framboise is currently on island to conduct the fifth (5th) review of the country’s Homegrown Structural Adjustment Programme.

The 5th review is the penultimate of the Programme and covers the period January to June 2016.

“What aspects of the structural adjustment program should we keep, what aspect should we modify and what aspect should we get rid of completely.  Since we asked them for buying when we implemented we should ask them for suggestions when we going forward,” Dr. Mitchell said.

Grenada entered into the three-year, IMF supported, Homegrown Structural Adjustment Programme in January 2014 and has so far concluded four successful reviews by the IMF.
