ACTING PM BOWEN CAUTIONS PEDESTRIANS AND MOTORISTS

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, October 23, 2014 – GIS: Acting Prime Minister, and Minister of Communications and Works, Honourable Gregory Bowen, has issued a public service message advising all pedestrians and motorists alike, to exercise extreme caution today when navigating our nation's roads.

This is in light of the ongoing heavy rainfall which has plagued the nation since last evening, causing flooding and road blockages in some areas.

The Acting Prime Minister, in his capacity as Minister of Works, assures the nation that the Government, and by implication, his Ministry, is doing everything necessary to restore the nation to normalcy in the shortest possible time.

Already the River Road area, one of the major roadways which experienced severe flooding earlier today, has been restored to functionality.

According to Honourable Bowen "it is in the interest of everyone concerned--Government and citizens alike-- to adhere to all efforts at disaster mitigation to ensure that damages from this most recent weather system are minimized."

In the meantime, Acting Prime Minister Bowen urges the public to comply with the advisory notices disseminated by the Ministry of National Security and Disaster Preparedness, in particular, the Traffic Department, and the National Disaster Management Agency and MET office.
