NATIONAL CLEAN UP CAMPAIGN TO BE HELD THIS WEEKEND

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, THURSDAY AUGUST 18, 2016 – GIS:  Efforts to enhance health and safety in Grenada, get a major boost with a National Cleanup Campaign this weekend. 

The National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) and the Ministry of Health have mobilized the public for a national cleanup of their communities. 

It will be held Saturday and Sunday from six o’clock in the morning and is being targeted at specific areas, as part of the fight to rid the country of the Aides Egypti mosquitoes that are spreading the Zika Virus. 

The Bus Terminal, Cruise Ship Terminal and the Fish Market to Queens Park are the areas being tackled in the town of St George, with Morne Toute, Grand Anse Valley, Morne Rouge, Calliste and the Kirani James Boulevard to Port Louis, being addressed in South St George. 

The Morne Jaloux Playing Field to the bottom of the Post Office Hill and Peters Field are the cleanup areas in Southeast St George, with the Grenville Bus Terminal, the coastal areas in Soubise and Marquis and the drain in Mt Horne being tackled in St Andrew Southwest. 

The Lambert Bridge, Pomme Rose down to Bellvue are being cleaned in St David’s North, with Vincennes and Mt Tranquill being addressed in St David’s South.

Good Hope behind the Community Center, the Pan Yard, Park Estate, Ravine and Boca are the areas being tackled in Northeast St George, with Cherry Hill, Grand Mal and Moliniere being addressed in Northwest St George.

Nationals are being encouraged to turn out in large numbers and support the cleanup effort, in an attempt to keep their surroundings and country clean and healthy.
