Grenada PM appoints First Response team leaving for Dominica on Sunday

ST. GEORGE'SGRENADA, August 29, 2015 - GIS:  Prime Minister Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell has appointed a First Response team, scheduled to leave Grenada early on Sunday for Dominica to aid in relief efforts.

The team, led by Minister of Health, Honourable Nickolas Steele, comprises a Pathologist, Deputy Police Commissioner, Franklin Redhead, Head of the Coast Guard, as well as a Senior Engineer.

Due to flight constraints in Storm-ravaged Dominica, the team will travel on a yacht through private arrangements and will also include officials from the National Disaster Management Agency.

The yacht will also carry loads of supplies donated by cooperate and private entities as well as the Government.  Those supplies include water, first aid kits and non-perishable food items.

Donations are ongoing at major retail outlets throughout the Island, including MNIB, all Andall and Associates stores, Foodland, FoodFair and Real Value supermarkets.  Cash donations can be made to the Dominica Relief Fund at the Grenada Cooperative Bank, at account number 121004900.

The National Disaster Management Agency continues to interact with counterparts in the region, regarding continuing relief efforts for our brothers and sisters in Dominica.
