FIRE MONTH OBSERVANCE ON TRACK

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, February 17, 2016 – GIS: Organizers say that Fire Observation Month, which began February 9th, is going pretty well.

The Fire Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force and NADMA- the National Disaster Management Agency, indicate that the activities have so far been enlightening.

February 9th-12th was used to furnish the public with fire preventative measures, as the country heads into the dry season, which has over the years seen several threatening bush fires.

Officials have been at radio and television stations providing messages and tips regarding fire prevention and are happy with the support obtained.

The Grenada Broadcasting Network, the Government Information Service (GIS), MTV, WEE FM, Boss FM, Real FM and others have all been on board, supporting the venture.

The month-long observation of Fire Month goes up a notch Thursday February 17th with a public forum at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mt Moritz from 6:30 in the evening.

Police officer ASP Corion and an official from NADMA will address the issue, which will deal specifically with the prevention of Bush and Structural Fires.

A school visit to the First Choice Primary School is planned for February 19th from 10 0’clock in the morning.

Open House sessions are also scheduled  for Police Stations in St George Monday February 22nd, St Mark Tuesday February 23rd, St Patrick February 25th, St Andrew Friday February 26th and St David and Carriacou Saturday February 27th.

"Be alert to prevent fires" is the theme being used for the occasion.
