NEW NATIONAL PARTY HOLDS MASSIVE RALLY

Monday 20th April, 2015: At the New National Party (NNP) Rally held at the Westerhall Playing Field, St David on Sunday 19th April, 2015, NNP supporters turned out in their thousands to attend what was the largest political rally in Grenada since the February 2013 General Election. Based on the large size and energized atmosphere, some dubbed it a “pre-election rally”.

NNP supporters packed the playing field to listen to political leader, Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell, and his NNP Team provide updates on the Economy, Housing, Healthcare, Sports, Youth Development, Tourism, and Agriculture.

Senator David also delivered his well received maiden NNP Rally speech. He delivered a strong message of national unity and development and reminded the crowd of where we came from during the four and a half years of the previous Government in which he served with his chant – “…..I was there!!!” . Senator David contrasted where we were then, with where we are today, with greater hope and prosperity.

Some of the key achievements highlighted included the significant reduction in unemployment - from over 40% on entering Office down to 29.5% today; a growing economy - one of the best performing in the region after years of negative growth under the previous Government; reducing unpaid claims by over half, putting millions of dollars back in the hands of our local businesses; significantly reducing Grenada’s debt stock with a 50% haircut from our creditors; securing hundreds of millions of dollars from our development partners for budgetary support; the handover of hundreds of houses to low income families with the construction of many hundreds more about to start; the upcoming introduction of a National Health Insurance Scheme which will make healthcare more accessible and more affordable; and importantly, the restoration of Grenada’s reputation on the regional and international stage after it suffered under the mismanagement of the previous Government. The achievements highlighted are only a few of all that have been achieved to date.

Dr. Mitchell applauded the leadership of the Churches, the business communities, the trade union movement, and the non-governmental organisations for their support - not for a political party, but their support for national unity and development. Dr. Mitchell praised the important contribution made by the Social Partners in all that has been achieved to date.

The NNP continues to deliver on its promises as it moves forward in the development of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique for the betterment of ALL.
