MORE PEOPLE EMPLOYED IN GRENADA

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, November 25, 2015 –GIS: The Grenada government is reporting a significant increase in the number of persons employed in Grenada.

 

Prime Minister Dr.Keith Mitchell says nearly four thousand persons have gained employment since his administration came to office in 2013.

Government figures indicate that the number of persons working has increased from 37,365 in 2013 to 41,046 in 2014.

“Today, hope has returned and as the economy improves, more and more people are seeking work and finding work- a very good sign,” said an upbeat Prime Minister.

 

“Indeed, the number of persons employed has increased from 37,365 in 2013 to 41,046 in 2014- an increase of 3,681 persons”.

Meantime, for the third year in a row Grenada’s economy is expected to outstrip the Eastern Caribbean Currency Unit’s average of 1.9 percent growth.

This is expected to be fueled by a revised local growth rate of 5.1 percent, faster than originally projected

.

“The main drivers of this growth performance are Construction, Agriculture, Tourism and Education. After contracting in 2014, Construction had rebounded well,” announced Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell, while presenting the 2016 budget in Parliament on Wednesday.
