No reported cases of H1N1 or Zika virus in Grenada

ST. GEORGE’S GRENADA January 20, 2016- GIS: There are no reported cases of the Influenza A H1N1 or Zika virus in Grenada. That is the assurance given to the general public by Health Minister Hon. Nickolas Steele.

Minister Steele issued a brief statement in an effort to allay fears in the wake of reports of a resurgence of H1N1 and an increase in the presence of Zika in the Caribbean Community.

Surveillance at major ports of entry has increased and public education campaigns are ongoing.

“Let me assure you, that as minister responsible for health, I will continue to make every possible intervention on your behalf to ensure that we do all we can to keep these viruses at bay,” Minister Steele said.

The full address of the health minister will be broadcast on Wednesday, January 20,  at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM on GIS television, as well as other television stations.
