FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRENADIAN FARMERS

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, March 4th, 2016- GIS: The La Sagesse Processing Plant, which lay dormant for many years, will become a fully operational plant in July 2016.

That’s according to Leader of Government Business, Sen. Simon Stiell, who was speaking at the sitting of the Upper House on Tuesday March 1st.

Senator Stiell says the re-opening of the processing plant will create more opportunities for the nation’s farmers as Grenada seeks to cash in on the benefits of the agro processing industry.

“That will have a tremendous impact, a positive impact on opportunities for our farmers to supply fruits etc. to that facility”, Sen. Stiell said.

The Leader of Government Business also announced that Grenada has been appointed to the Chair of Wind fresh, a company that engages in the export of bananas to the United Kingdom.

He says this is yet another lucrative opportunity for Grenadian farmers and those of the other Windward Islands.

“So, Grenada and other board members will have an opportunity to drive other Wind fresh business and to get more opportunities for our farmers, not only here in Grenada but throughout the region Dominica, St. Lucia and St. Vincent,” Senator Steill added.
