Honourable Clifton "Pablo" Paul

Member of Parliament for the constituency of Saint Patrick East is a local son of the soil, Hon. Clifton David Paul otherwise popularly known as “Mann Paul" or "Pablo" by his peers and associates. Clifton was born in December 1957 in the village of Morne Fendue, St. Patrick’s. He is the son of proud parents, Leon “Terror” Paul and Cislyn Paul.

From 1962 to 1967, Paul had his primary school education at the St Patrick’s Roman Catholic School and later at the Samaritan Presbyterian School. This was followed by his admission to Mc Donald College which he attended from 1971 and graduated in 1977.

In 1980, Pablo began a teaching career at the St Patrick’s Roman Catholic School and later spent a year in the Republic of Bulgaria (1982-83) where he pursued academic studies and obtained a diploma in Social Sciences. Upon completion of studies in Bulgaria, he returned to Grenada and resumed his teaching profession at the St. Patrick Roman Catholic School.

Between 1987 -1989,his passion, interest and commitment to education led him to attend the Grenada Teachers College where he graduated and attained the status of qualified teacher. In 2001, he successfully completed a University of West Indies (UWI) Certificate in Supervision and Management.

His academic and professional career did not deter him from accepting and contributing to family life. In 1995, he became the proud husband of Agnes Jean Paul “nee Joseph” and the father of a lovely sibling of nine lovely children.

In 2011, like many other Grenadians, he made the decision to retire from the workforce but remains deeply engaged with many local community initiatives including sports and extra-curricular initiatives.

During his illustrious teaching career, Pablo has served on the Grenada Union of Teachers (GUT) National Executive Branch, GUT. National Sports Committees and coordinated diverse sporting activities of the GUT Branch in St. Patrick.

Pablo’s venture into the political environment is not new. He has a long and protracted relation with the New National Party (NNP) where he held the position of Chairperson for the Rose Hill Support Group for several years and Secretary of the St Patrick’s East Constituency Branch of the NNP.

Pablo promises the people of St Patrick East strong leadership and proper representation.
